Digital Salon in the Barossa was held on the 13th of May 2011, at the Barossa Regional Gallery in Tanunda.
This event featured a mix of local networking, with live link up to participating artists in other parts of regional and urban South Australia. The aim was to reveal ways that people use, make and present digital media technology around SA.
About 10 people attended the event in the Barossa, as well as Megan Collins (Wistow) and Joel Panther (Mt Gambier) there to support the event. Maz McGann from Country Arts SA supported the event as co-host with Cindi Drennan online.
Attending online were Cindi Drennan and Stu Nankivell (Port Augusta), Ray Ellison, Steve Mayhew and Anthony C from Country Arts SA (Pt Adelaide), Shaylee Leach from Riverland (Adelaide), Imelda Rivers and others from their homes in Adelaide and Barossa.
The program included a 6 minute sampler of images contributed by regional SA digital media makers; an update on current opportunities for regional SA digital media makers; and a series of guest presentations live and online.
The presenters included:
- Maz McGann (Barossa) talking about Barossa and introducing the people there
- Dave de Vries (Barossa) talking about the Barossa film festival
- Shaylee Leach (Riverland/Adelaide) talking about creating digital media work and showing examples of her work
- Stu Nankivell (Port Augusta) talking about working in Japan and Port Augusta
- A topic of conversation about the National Broadband Network brought interesting comments from a number of people.
Thank you to Maz and the Barossa community for hosting the Focus on Barossa Digital Salon.
